Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely. To produce a great live event, we suggest these best practices. Most importantly, practice. Run several events as rehearsals, watch the attendee experience live and on demand. Always have more than one person in the event group. Ideally you'll have three people, with one person outside the presentation room. Create a custom link using bit. In the event of any catastrophic event, or if a producer makes some kind of mistake, you can easily create a new broadcast event and just update your custom URL to point to it.

Have the event group join about 30 minutes ahead of time. Share a slide with a nice intro, indicating that the event will begin soon. Then, start the live broadcast about 10 minutes early to make sure everything is working. Plan for your event group communication—real-time communications are critical for live events. The inner event chat is a good way to stay in touch.

Some people may just listen with the browser in the background. Have a good microphone for presenters. Lighting can be the difference between a production being perceived as high-quality or amateur. Use three lights to illuminate your subject—a key light, a fill light, and a back light to provide good depth. You can use a capture device to take HDMI inputs into your meeting as a camera.

For example, you can use them to connect a prosumer camera with better optics and zoom capabilities and an HDMI output as a Teams meeting camera. These HDMI capture devices can also be used to stream a desktop into a live event to show videos or demos.

If you are the sole event producer, we recommended you use two monitors. This way, you can share the content from the second monitor while producing the event from first monitor. Teams live events use video-based screen sharing VBSS. Use the following planning guidelines to ensure you get the best experience:.

Three attendees tried sharing their screen and playing the video, but no one could hear the sound. One of the attendees said it was his understanding that a video would need to be embedded in a PowerPoint document and played from PowerPoint, is that true? View best response. Just like Skype, Teams sends the audio from your headset etc into the meeting, not the sounds from your PC.

If it didn't every meeting would be ruined with a cacophony of mail alerts, other phone calls etc. Enable the Stereo Mix on your laptop, instructions here. Stereo Mix is a special recording device that pipes your laptop sounds into something that looks like a microphone.

In Teams, start your meeting then under the cog for settings select Stereo Mix as your mic just before you play the video. You'll be muted but your videos audio would enter the meeting in your place. Use a webcasting tool like ManyCamthis create a 'virtual' webcam and mic that you can select in Teams, then in the ManyCam app you can mix together between your own video and audio, playback videos, pictures, all sorts.

Either way it's a lot of effort, if it's for a casual requrement I would send them a link to watch alone, but it is possible.

We use ManyCam with our Skype Broadcasts to allow us to mix and cut sounds and videos from multiple cameras into one stream, it works well. Steven Collierthanks for this. I'd still like to have the ability in both Teams and SfB to play sound and video during a presentation especially with our weekly staff briefings done on Surface Hubs.

Is ManyCam available in the App store? As that is only place we can add apps for the Surface Hub. No you cant install it on SurfaceHub, thats a locked down device that is intended for a single set of purposes. You could join from a laptop, then with the approaches play your videos etc and you would get them to appear on the surfacehub.

Steven CollierThanks! I may look at that option. Stereo Mixer does not seem to be supported by the Lenovo Soundcard. Is there any other workaround besides buying an external software ManyCam? Furthermoreare there plans to improve this feature and if yes, would you have a timeline to share? It's something that is supposed to come to Broadcast meeting as they migrate from Skype to Teams, you can see the features they expect at.

Teams reports that it doesn't detect speakers or a microphone. Everything else in Windows detects them properly and uses them without issue.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted all without any change to the issue. This is on Windows 10 and Teams is up-to-date. Any ideas? This thread is locked.

I have the same question With Teams live events, users in your organization can broadcast video and meeting content to large online audiences. Microsoft live events bring live video streaming to a new level, encouraging connection throughout the entire engagement lifecycle with attendees before, during, and after live events. You can create a live event wherever your audience, team, or community resides, using Microsoft Stream, Teams, or Yammer.

Teams delivers chat-based collaboration, calling, meetings, and live events, so you can expand the audience of your meetings. Teams live events is an extension of Teams meetings, enabling users to broadcast video and meeting content to a large online audience.

These are meant for one-to-many communications where the host of the event is leading the interactions and audience participation is primarily to view the content shared by host. Teams live events are considered the next version of Skype Meeting Broadcast and will eventually replace the capabilities provided in Skype Meeting Broadcast. At this point, Microsoft will continue to support Skype Meeting Broadcast for users who are using Skype for Business in their organizations, with no disruption in service for new or future events.

So, let's get started. First, take a look at the following diagram that shows high level components involved in Microsoft live events and how they are connected. Live events in Teams empowers multiple roles organizer, producer, presenter, and attendee to successfully broadcast and participate in an event.

To learn more, see Event group roles. You can see from the picture above that there are four key components that are used with live events in Teams. For an overview of how to set up live events and the attendee experience, check out these short videos. Teams provides the ability for the organizers to create an event with the appropriate attendee permissions, designate event team members, select a production method, and invite attendees.

If the live event was created from within a Yammer group, the live event attendees will be able to use Yammer conversation for interacting with people in the event.

The video input is the foundation of the live event and it can vary from a single webcam to a multi-camera professional video production. The live events in Microsoft support a spectrum of production scenarios, include an event produced in Teams using a webcam or an event produced in an external app or device.

You can choose these options depending on their project requirements and budget. There are two ways to produce events:. This option is the best and quickest option if you want to use the audio and video devices connected to the PC or are inviting remote presenters to participate in the event. This option allows users to easily use their webcams and share their screen as input in the event.

External app or device : External encoders allow users to produce their live events directly from an external hardware or software-based encoder with Stream. This option is best if you already have studio quality equipment for example, media mixers which support streaming to a Real-time Messaging Protocol RTMP service.

This type of production is typically used in large scale events such as executive town halls — where a single stream from a media mixer is broadcasted to the audience. The goal of eCDN is to take the video content from the internet and distribute the content throughout your enterprise without impacting network performance.

The attendee experience is the most important aspect of live events and it's critical that the attendees can participate in the live event without having any issues. But there is also another uservoice that could solve many similar problems and allow you to play a pre-recorded filmclip in a Live Event.

How to: Using two notebooks that join into ms teams live meeting, where 1 notebook is for video and another notebook is for audio. Simply plug the audio cable from the first notebook speaker into the microphone on the second notebook.

I have tested and worked well. The disadvantages are: because the two notebooks are close together, the microphone on the first notebook must be muted so there is no echo feedback. Here's the config : - Settings Default audio on the notebook to headphones on the internal soundcard. The disadvantages of these two options are : Cannot be used to talk when broadcast video because the speaker and microphone are in use. And as a help to the community, I made a deep dive step by step guide on how to do the trick using the workaround you suggested.
